With the successful implementation of the Blue Sky project, PXC has formed a highly trustworthy partnership with BMW at all levels, laying a solid foundation for BMW to support PXC to produce the core engine parts, known as Phoenix project, and support the transfer of crankshaft and con-rod lines.
In 2014, based on the development trend of the automobile industry, in order to maintain strategic competitiveness and sustainable profitability, PXC launched a strategic transformation to develop mid-to-high-end engine parts business. The management seized the opportunity and actively negotiated with BMW Group. In January 2015, it reached a crankshaft production line transfer agreement with BMW Brilliance, becoming the exclusive supplier of crankshaft and an important supplier of con-rod to BMW Brilliance.
During the handover period of the crankshaft project, PXC recruited and trained more than 350 employees from scratch and all of them passed the BMW qualification certification. Finally, crankshaft OEE achieved 81%, better than the 80% under BMW management, and exported 10,000 crankshafts to Europe, all with zero defect in quality.
On March 26th 2019, PXC won the ‘Excellent Quality Supplier Award’ from BMW Brilliance, becoming one of the five suppliers out of 400 BMW suppliers who received this award, and the only one among BMW's engine suppliers. The most important achievement of transformation and upgrading marks that PXC quality management level has been recognized by the world's top 500 companies. In 2020, it was awarded as a BMW model supplier for intelligent and carbon emission reduction factory construction, and realized sustainable development along with BMW for future.
The Phoenix project has brought stable profits to PXC. Especially during the period of Brilliance's bankruptcy and reorganization, BMW has given great support to PXC's cash flow through the Phoenix project, allowing PXC to be reborn as a Phoenix.
